Panaji, May 28: Water storage levels in Goa’s major reservoirs are currently at moderate levels, with authorities closely monitoring dam conditions as the state approaches the monsoon season.

The Selaulim Dam, Goa’s largest source of drinking water, is presently holding around one-third of its total storage capacity. Officials said the reservoir is at nearly 31 per cent capacity, with water levels remaining below the full reservoir mark while controlled outflow continues as part of routine management.

Other major dams in the state are reporting varying storage conditions. Tillari Dam is said to have comparatively better reserves with storage above one-third capacity, while Anjunem Dam is witnessing relatively low water availability.

Smaller reservoirs including Chapoli, Amthane, Panchawadi, and Gaunem are also showing mixed storage levels ranging from moderate to low.

Officials from the Water Resources Department assured that the present water storage is adequate to meet immediate drinking water needs across Goa. However, they said regular monitoring of reservoir inflows is continuing, especially with rainfall activity expected to intensify in the coming weeks.

Authorities are also preparing for improved reservoir recharge with the arrival of the southwest monsoon, which is expected to gradually increase water levels across the state’s dam network.
