Ahmedabad, May 28: A 27-year-old man from Delhi was arrested by the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch for allegedly creating and circulating over 100 AI-generated obscene photos and videos of a social media influencer and her mother after she rejected his friendship proposal.

The accused was identified as Sumit Nemchand Sharma, a resident of North East Delhi. Police said he allegedly carried out a months-long cyber harassment campaign between December 2025 and April 2026 using fake social media accounts and AI tools.

According to investigators, Sharma allegedly created multiple fake Instagram accounts and YouTube channels in the influencer’s name before uploading morphed explicit content generated using freely available AI applications.

Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch ACP Hardik Mankadiya said the victim approached police after fake profiles and obscene content began circulating online.

“We received a complaint from a social media influencer that an unknown person had created fake Instagram accounts in her name and uploaded over 100 AI-generated nude photos and videos of her and her mother on social media platforms and YouTube channels,” he said.

Police said the posts caused severe mental trauma and public humiliation to both the woman and her mother.

Investigators revealed that Sharma had first contacted the influencer through Instagram, where their conversations initially revolved around religion and spirituality. However, matters allegedly escalated after Sharma proposed friendship and the influencer rejected him.

Police said the accused then began stalking the woman online and created several fake social media identities using her photographs.

“He used the influencer’s photographs as profile pictures for fake accounts and also opened YouTube channels using her identity,” ACP Mankadiya said.

During the investigation, police found that Sharma allegedly downloaded photographs of the influencer and her mother from Instagram and used AI-powered “remove clothes” tools to create fake nude images and videos.

Police said the accused searched online for AI-based applications capable of digitally altering photographs and uploaded images on various websites to generate morphed explicit content.

“He searched for AI Remove Clothes tools on Google and used different websites to create morphed nude images and videos,” the officer added.

The AI-generated content was allegedly uploaded through fake Instagram accounts, YouTube channels and other social media platforms along with obscene posts.

Police said forensic examination of Sharma’s mobile phone revealed that he had allegedly created around 10 fake accounts across X, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube using the influencer’s identity.

Investigators believe the fake accounts were actively used for several months to repeatedly upload explicit AI-generated content targeting both the influencer and her mother.

Police further stated that Sharma allegedly uploaded religious discourse videos online and was associated with ISKCON’s Hare Krishna sect.

A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 78(2) and 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 66(C) and 67 of the Information Technology Act. Further investigation is underway.
