New Delhi, May 28: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in Gujarat, Goa, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Thursday.
According to the weather department, isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely over Gujarat, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh today, while similar conditions are expected over Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Telangana till Friday.
The IMD further stated that heavy rainfall conditions are likely to continue over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and North Interior Karnataka during the next four days.

Similar weather conditions are also expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and East Rajasthan over the next four days.
The weather agency has additionally predicted light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Northeast India, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi during the same period.
Authorities have advised residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert and take necessary precautions in view of the forecast of intense rainfall and thunderstorms.
