Debut Kannada poetry collection ‘Bannagala Chittara’ by Avil Rasquinha released in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jun 2: The book release ceremony of 'Bannagala Chittara', the debut Kannada poetry anthology by Konkani writer, poet, and journalist Avil Rasquinha, was held on May 31 at MCC Bank Auditorium, Mangaluru.

Releasing the book, Fr Prashant Madtha S J, recipient of the Karnataka Rajyotsava Kannada Sahitya Award, said, “The method of composing poetry has changed today. Decades ago, greater importance was given to rhyme and poetic ornamentation. However, in recent times, more emphasis is placed on expressing emotions and ideas in a way that readers can easily understand and that touches their hearts. This is a welcome change. Poet Avil Rasquinha has beautifully weaved poems on human life and nature.”

Chief guest, Dr M Srinath, president of the Dakshina Kannada District Kannada Sahitya Parishat, said, “The poetry collection Bannagala Chittara contains many poems that will captivate readers. There is a need for today’s youth to develop a greater interest in literature.

Stany Alvares, president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, and Anil Lobo, chairman of The MCC Bank Ltd, congratulated poet Avil Rasquinha in his maiden venture in Kannada.

The programme commenced with a prayer song rendered by Melisha Fernandes, creating a solemn and prayerful atmosphere. Avil Rasquinha welcomed the guests and audience, expressing his appreciation for their presence. Felcy Lobo introduced the book. The event was compered by Geo Agrar, who conducted the programme smoothly and efficiently. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mariette Rasquinha, who expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event.
