Udupi, Jun 5: St Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary School (CBSE), Udupi, conducted a three-day orientation programme for the parents of students from nursery to grade 10 on from June 2 to June 4. The programme aimed at strengthening the partnership between parents and the school while familiarizing them with the CBSE curriculum and the school’s educational vision.
The chief guest and resource person for the first two days attended by parents of grades 3 to 10, was Dr G Robert Clive, the renowned educationist and principal of Crossland College, Brahmavar.





















The programme commenced with solemn prayer. Teacher Kavyashree and teacher Disha expressed words of welcome to the guest speaker and parents on June 2 and June 3 respectively while the parents attending the Foundational Stage orientation on June 4 were welcomed by the principal, Sr Lathika AC.
In his keynote address Dr Clive elaborated the CBSE approach to education shared valuable parenting insights with the enthusiastic gathering of parents. Emphasizing the challenges of the digital era, he urged parents to remain vigilant about their children's mobile phone usage and growing screen dependency. While acknowledging the significance of Artificial Intelligence in the modern world, he stressed the importance of nurturing natural intelligence, critical thinking, and creativity among children.
He encouraged parents to raise resilient and emotionally strong and responsible individuals. Highlighting the importance of empathy and gratitude, he advised them to sensitize children towards the efforts and sacrifices of others. Dr Clive also outlined the advantages of CBSE education and its focus on holistic development.
Following the keynote session, faculty members teacher R Prachi Singh and teacher Seema provided parents with a detailed overview of the CBSE assessment system and the curriculum reforms introduced by the CBSE Board for the academic year 2026–27.
The orientation programme for parents of students from nursery to grade 2, titled 'Laying the Foundation for Joyful Learning' was held on June 4. The session presented a comprehensive understanding of the Foundational Stage curriculum aligned with the vision of NEP 2020. Parents were introduced to a child-centric approach that moves beyond rote learning and emphasizes experiential learning, creativity, play-based activities, and joyful discovery.
A key highlight of the session was the school's commitment to providing a stress-free learning environment. Parents were informed that children's progress would be monitored through continuous observation of their participation, communication, and developmental milestones rather than through formal examinations.
The programme concluded with an emphasis on the 'Triangle of Trust'- the strong partnership among the school, parents, and students. Regular communication, mutual support, and shared responsibility were highlighted as essential factors in ensuring the holistic growth and success of every child.
The orientation programme was highly appreciated by the parents, who expressed their gratitude for the valuable guidance and the school's commitment to nurturing confident, compassionate, and competent learners.
