Kasargod: DC declares holiday for all educational institutions on June 6 as IMD sounds red alert

Kasargod, June 5: All educational institutions across Kasargod district will remain closed on Saturday, June 6, after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a Red Alert warning of extremely heavy rainfall in the region.

Acting on the weather forecast and as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety, district collector Arjun Pandian announced a holiday for all educational institutions in the district, including professional colleges.

The closure order covers schools, professional colleges, anganwadis, tuition centres, ICSE and CBSE schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, madrasas, and all other religious educational institutions operating within the district.

However, the administration clarified that the holiday will not apply to residential schools, which will continue to function as usual.

Authorities have also stated that there will be no change in the schedule of university examinations, public examinations, or interviews that had already been announced. Such examinations and interview processes will be conducted as planned despite the holiday declaration.

The decision follows the IMD’s forecast of extremely heavy rainfall under the highest-level weather warning category, prompting district authorities to initiate precautionary measures amid concerns over potential weather-related disruptions and safety risks.
