Srinagar/Jammu, Jun 6: Jammu and Kashmir Police have intensified their crackdown on narcotics networks by attaching properties worth nearly Rs 5 crore belonging to alleged drug traffickers in Srinagar and Poonch districts under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
In Srinagar, police attached two immovable properties valued at approximately Rs 3.5 crore as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan. Officials said the assets were identified as proceeds of drug trafficking during investigations into separate narcotics cases.

One of the attached properties, valued at around Rs 1.3 crore, includes a double-storeyed residential house and adjoining land in the Hazratbal area. The property is linked to an accused involved in an NDPS case registered in 2021.
In a separate action, police attached a residential house worth nearly Rs 2.2 crore in Soura. Authorities alleged that the property belonged to an individual involved in the illegal narcotics trade and had been acquired through proceeds generated from drug-related activities.
Police said the attachment orders prohibit any sale, transfer, lease, modification or creation of third-party interests in the properties until further legal proceedings are completed.
Meanwhile, in Poonch district, police arrested an alleged drug peddler and recovered more than four grams of heroin, commonly known as "chitta", during a naka checking operation in the Surankote area.
According to officials, the suspect attempted to flee after noticing police personnel but was quickly apprehended. A search led to the recovery of the narcotic substance, following which a case was registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Investigators are now probing the source and intended distribution network of the seized contraband.
In another major action in Poonch, police attached a residential property worth approximately Rs 1.5 crore under the NDPS Act. The house, located in the Samote area of Surankote, was linked to an ongoing narcotics investigation.
Authorities said the property has been formally placed under legal attachment, and no transaction involving the asset can take place without approval from the competent authority.
J&K Police said the actions are part of a broader strategy to dismantle the financial foundations of drug trafficking networks by targeting assets allegedly acquired through illegal narcotics trade.
Reaffirming their zero-tolerance policy against drug-related crimes, police urged citizens to assist law enforcement agencies by sharing information about drug trafficking and substance abuse. Officials said public cooperation remains crucial in achieving the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan and creating a drug-free society.
