Nationwide security mock drill underway, NTA steps up arrangements

Daijiworld Media Network – New Delhi

New Delhi, Jun 20: A nationwide mock drill is being conducted ahead of the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled on Sunday, with authorities tightening security arrangements to ensure a smooth and transparent conduct of the medical entrance test.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has put in place extensive measures, including security checks, surveillance systems and coordination with district administrations, ahead of the re-test being held following the earlier examination controversy.

The mock drill is aimed at reviewing preparedness at examination centres, testing communication channels and ensuring that all protocols are followed before the commencement of the exam.

The re-examination will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode across several cities, with lakhs of candidates expected to appear. Authorities have deployed officials, observers and security personnel at centres to monitor arrangements.

NTA officials said examination materials are being transported under strict security protocols, including GPS-enabled vehicles and police escorts. Centres have also been equipped with CCTV surveillance and biometric authentication systems.

Candidates have been advised to reach their respective centres well in advance and follow all instructions mentioned on their admit cards. Entry restrictions and frisking procedures will remain in place to maintain examination integrity.

The re-test follows allegations of irregularities in the original NEET-UG examination, after which concerns were raised over the fairness and security of the examination process.

Officials said the additional measures are aimed at restoring confidence among students and ensuring a transparent examination environment.
