Amritsar, Jun 21: Amid the BJP’s efforts to strengthen its presence in Punjab ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, party national president Nitin Nabin arrived in Amritsar on Saturday for a three-day visit to the state.
The BJP, which has announced plans to contest all 117 Assembly seats in the upcoming polls, is using Nabin’s visit to energise party workers, review organisational preparedness and strengthen its grassroots network.
During his visit, Nabin will participate in a series of religious, social and organisational programmes in Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana.

His first visit to Punjab comes soon after the appointment of Kewal Singh Dhillon, a Jat Sikh leader, as the BJP’s state unit president. The appointment marked the first time the party selected a Jat Sikh to lead its Punjab unit, with an eye on the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Nabin chaired a nearly two-hour meeting of the Punjab BJP core committee at a hotel in Amritsar. Addressing the gathering, he said detailed discussions were held on strengthening the party organisation up to the booth level, upcoming programmes and the political situation in the state.
The meeting was attended by BJP national vice president Saudan Singh, national general secretary Tarun Chugh, national secretary Narendra Singh Raina, Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, national parliamentary board member Iqbal Singh Lalpura and Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon, among others.
Party leaders said the meeting focused on organisational strategy, election preparations and the roadmap for the 2027 Assembly polls. The leadership reiterated its aim of expanding the BJP’s base at the grassroots level and working towards forming a “double-engine government” in Punjab.
Meanwhile, the Akal Takht on Saturday released a video related to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s appearance before the Sikh temporal seat in January this year over an alleged objectionable video controversy.
