Panaji, Jun 26: Goa witnessed widespread rainfall over the past 24 hours, helping reduce the state's monsoon deficit, though it continues to remain well below the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The state recorded an average rainfall of 56 mm on June 25, significantly higher than the normal 31.6 mm, registering an excess of 77.4 per cent for the day.
Despite the recent improvement, cumulative rainfall from June 1 to June 25 stood at 388.7 mm, against the normal 733.6 mm, leaving Goa with an overall monsoon deficit of 47 per cent.

District-wise, North Goa has recorded a rainfall deficit of 51.2 per cent, while South Goa remains 43.3 per cent below its normal seasonal rainfall.
Several rain gauge stations across the state reported moderate to heavy showers during the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 a.m. on June 25.
Among the areas receiving heavy rainfall (64.5 mm to 115.5 mm), Dharbandora recorded the highest precipitation at 93.4 mm, followed by Panaji with 92.6 mm, Ela (Old Goa) at 84.4 mm, Margao at 69.6 mm, and Canacona with 68.8 mm.
Other locations experienced moderate rainfall ranging between 15.6 mm and 64.4 mm, including Ponda (60.8 mm), Pernem (57.5 mm), Dabolim (55.2 mm), Mormugao (46.8 mm) and Quepem (45.4 mm).
Meteorological observations also indicated relatively cool daytime temperatures across the state, accompanied by persistently high humidity levels.
The IMD has forecast moderate rainfall over Goa over the next few days, with isolated spells of heavy rain expected in several parts of the state.
A yellow alert has been issued and will remain in effect until July 1, warning of heavy rainfall at isolated locations. The weather department has also indicated that from June 28 onwards, a few areas could experience heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph, prompting residents to remain cautious.
