Bhatkal, Mar 19: The much-awaited international educational convention hosted by Jamia Islamia was inaugurated on Sunday March 18 with a grand event.

A crowd of more than 6000 from different communities attended the opening day of the convention. The event was inaugurated with a prayer by Maulana Syed Mohammed Rabey Hasani Nadvi, chairman of All India Muslim Personal Law Board.

The convention also marked the completion of 50 years of Jamia Islamia Islamic Institution.

Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Nadvi stressed on the important of promoting harmony and unity in the society. "We must be patient and accept each other, and share our joys and sorrows. This kind of brotherhood among different communities is essential for the growth and development of our country. We must always remember that in a battle, both the loser and the winner suffer loss. We should together strive to build a harmonious, beautiful nation. When God has given us this country, it becomes our duty to protect it," he said.

During the convention, international exhibition on Islam and Quran and the exhibition on the Nawayath culture and heritage were also inaugurated by Maulana Nadvi.

Government dignitaries, leaders from different communities and representatives from Jamia Islamia attended the event.

Sri Brahmananda Saraswati Swamiji of Rama Kshetra Nityananda Nagar, Dharmasthala, and Sri Prasannanatha Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Shaka Math Shimoga, Kumta) and many others also participated in the convention.

Sri Brahmananda Saraswati Swamiji said that the Quran, the holy book of the Muslims, is a great book that has never been and never could be changed in any way. It conveys the message of one God, and so do the Upanishads. "The word 'Muslim' means surrender to the will of God, and if a person wants to get rid of evils like greed and sorrow, he should surrender himself to God," he added.

The sessions highlighted the role of Jamia Islamia in promoting Bhatkal as an educational hub and creating ambassadors of peace.

Shivanand Naik, former BJP MLA said, "The magnanimous crowd is proof of Jamia's popularity and people's love for an institution which has served them for 50 years now". Karnataka education minister Vishwanath Hegde Kageri also shared similar thoughts.

The exhibition attracted crowds from all over, as it showcased the Nawayath culture along with the culture of the entire Karnataka coastal belt.

One of the centers of attraction at the exhibition was the model of ancient mosques of Bhatkal town including Jamia Masjid, Khalifa Jamia Masjid, Mushma Masjid and Sultan Masjid and a typical Nawayath house equipped with traditional items inside it.

Models depicting important events mentioned in the Quran, highlights of the important Quranic messages and the model of Masjid Nabvi were displayed in the exhibition of Islam and Quran.

A four-day free medical camp has been arranged by a top emergency help association. State intelligence and National Security Guard personnel were also deployed. Royal Sports Center was one of the sponsors of the event.
