Puttur, Mar 19: The spate of accidents rocking the district seems to be on the rise, with at least one or two accidents being reported every other day. While in some cases the victims themselves are to be blamed, in some others it is the roads and negligence of others that costs innocent lives.

Satyajit Rao (24), son of Satish, a resident of Periadka Nedchil died when his motorbike rammed into an electric pole near Pulitadi at Uppinangadi, here, on Sunday March 18.

The incident took place near the Paltady curve when Satyajit and his mother were returning after attending a function.

His mother Usha Rao (46), who was riding pillion, sustained grave injuries. She has been admitted to a hospital here.

Satyajit Rao, an engineer who was working in Bangalore, was recently transferred to Mangalore.

It is said that Satyajit lost control of his bike and hit the electric pole on the side of the road. He is said to have been speeding.

Locals provided timely help by rushing them to a nearby hospital. However Satyajit breathed his last on the way.

A case has been registered.

In yet another incident that took place near Kuntur Annadka, a girl died and two others were severely injured when a Maruthi-800 rolled over the side of the road.

Varsha (9), daughter of Kusumadara, a resident of Pulikukku Girimanjalu, succumbed to injuries. Kusumadara’s wife Pushpavathi (29) and Ganesh, who was driving the car, were critically injured and were rushed to Puttur Pragathi hospital. Kusumadara’s son Varshith (7) luckily escaped without any injuries.

The incident took place when they were returning home after attending a function. As the children had to attend school the next day, Kusumadara sent his wife and children along with Ganesh in his car, while he stayed back as he had some work.

A case has been registered in Kadaba police station.

This is case of negligent driving and may be drunk driving as no one can hit a electric pole and in another incident the car rolled over and hit the side of the road.I can understand a head on collision of two vehicles. But this was not the case.

Either government does not know how to build roads or people do not know how to drive on these roads.
No prizes for guessing who has to take the blame.
Guy’s please don’t say building roads is not your government’s responsibility.
