Mumbai, Jul 2: Mumbai Police have busted a fake call centre operating from Dehradun that allegedly cheated job seekers by offering fraudulent employment in private airlines, arresting 11 persons in connection with the racket.
The action followed an investigation by the Mankhurd Police after a Mumbai-based woman lodged a complaint alleging she had been duped on the promise of securing a job with a private airline.
According to police, the accused contacted the woman during January and February and assured her of employment. As part of the purported recruitment process, they allegedly persuaded her to transfer around Rs 2.5 lakh to bank accounts specified by them towards processing and recruitment charges.

However, after making the payments, the woman neither received the promised job nor any further communication from the accused. She later approached the Mankhurd Police Station and registered a complaint.
Based on technical analysis and sustained investigation, police traced the operation to a fake call centre in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
A police team raided the premises and uncovered an organised operation allegedly involved in cheating job aspirants by offering fake employment opportunities.
During the raid, police arrested 11 persons allegedly linked to the racket and seized nine laptops, 13 mobile phones and other incriminating material believed to have been used in the fraud.
Police suspect the accused may have targeted several job seekers using a similar modus operandi. Investigators are examining the seized electronic devices and financial transactions to identify other victims and determine the full extent of the scam.
The arrested persons are being questioned, and further investigation is underway to ascertain whether more people were involved and to trace the money allegedly collected from victims.
