Mangaluru: Shattered glass at Bendore St Agnes bus shelter poses risk to students, public

Mangaluru, Jul 16: The absolute negligence of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) is on full display at the busy bus shelter located near St Agnes College in Bendore, where shattered glass pieces have been left scattered for several days, posing a severe safety hazard.

Every day, thousands of school and college students, along with the general public, utilize this prominent bus shelter located in the heart of the city. The glass panels of the shelter were shattered recently, presumably when a tree fell on the structure during the recent rains. However, despite days having passed since the incident, the authorities have made no effort to clear the dangerous debris.

Shattered glass shards are scattered all over the seating and standing areas of the shelter. Commuters have expressed deep concern over the civic body's apathy, pointing out that if a student or any citizen steps on these sharp pieces or sustains injuries, no one will step forward to take responsibility.

Ironically, the shelter prominently bears the branding of the 'Swachh Bharat' initiative. The contrast between the cleanliness slogan and the pile of hazardous, uncleaned glass pieces has drawn heavy criticism from locals, who have urged the city corporation to immediately clear the debris and repair the shelter before a major injury occurs.
