Bantwal: ABVP Activists Assault Member Over Facebook Post

Bantwal, Mar 21: Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarathi Parishat (ABVP) students of Vittal First Grade College attacked Srikrishna , an ABVP activist , here, in the heart of the city on Monday March 19. 

Srikrishna, resident of Bobbakeri, who runs a cloth store here, was on his way to hotel in the Empire Mall when he was attacked by the students.

Vittal station officer, Rakshith A K, and other police officers had to resort to lati charge to bring the situation under control and also held a few accused.

 It is alleged that Srikrishna posted insulting matter about ABVP members on social networking site, Facebook. Irked by his posts  ABVP members decided to take revenge.

On the other hand, Taranath and Hemanth, college students as well as ABVP members, registered a case against Sreekrishna to have attacked them. Both of them have been admitted to Puttur hospital.

A case has been registered against 10 people. Mahesh Kumar, Yuvraj, Gururaj, Santhosh have been taken into custody, while  Sushanth, Mahesh Kanyan, Suneeth, Hemanth, Taranth and few others are said to have escaped.

Sreekrishna , who suffered severe injuries underwent treatment in a hospital here, after which he has been shifted to a hospital in Mangalore for further treatment.
