Bhatkal, Mar 21: The third day of the international educational convention hosted by Jamia Islamia, here on Monday March 19, saw leading scholars from various Indian states present research papers.

A parallel track for Arabic speakers was hosted at the Jamia auditorium where international researchers presented their thoughts.

The first session was on 'Achievement of Ulema E Shafi' on the progress made by the Ulema in India. Different speakers from across the country were present.

In the second session for Indian Ulemas, Maulana Syed Salman Nadvi, the main speaker spoke on Right to Education in Islamic institution. On Right to Education Act (RTE), the AIMPLB's resolution said that it would take away the rights of the minority institutions to offer religious education and mother tongue learning.

The board demanded that the Madrasas and minority institutions should be exempted from the RTE Act 2009. About Direct Tax Code Bill, the AIMPLB expressed its difference on the grounds that it is going to end the concession given to the religious places, religious institutions, charitable societies and Anjuman in tax payment.

AIMPLB opposed the draft bill on communal violence which ignores the role of provocative speeches, articles and rumours that often triggered communal violence. The bill is said to be silent on identifying and punishing those responsible for making hate speeches, writing hate articles and fuelling rumors. Unless such provision is included, communal violence bill will not serve any purpose.

Meanwhile another programme was held in the conference hall for the Gulf people where paper presentation was presented in Arabic language. Several guests from Gulf, especially Arabs were present who shared their thoughts with the people.

Later in the evening, the third session was held which comprised of three conferences, first for Indian, second for Gulf in Arabic and the third for the alumni of Jamia Islamia, here.

Higher education of Muslim students across the world was put in the spotlight on the third day of the education convention as scholars and researchers discussed areas to improve the role of religious education and the importance of educating Muslim youth on the teachings of the Quran, Sunnah and the Hadith. Scholars highlighted the urgent need for creating a strong connection with the hearts of Muslims.

"We are open to science and the education of secular universities. We want parents to realize the importance of educating their children about Islam. More and more Muslims are moving away from the real 'Deen' and forgetting the basic core values of being a Muslim. Parents should make every effort to illuminate the hearts of young children with the blessings of Quran and its real meaning", said a scholar who was addressing the gathering.

Maulana Syed Salman Nadvi spoke in the third session. He said, there is a need to reform the Madrasa system as educators need to make better resources available to students. Modern methods of teaching Islam are available with ease and more ulemas need to open-up their institutes to make the best use of these tools".

Maulana Iqbal Mulla (Qazi Jammath Ul Muslimeen, Bhatkal) Maulana Syed Mohammad Rabey Hasani Nadvi (chairman of AIMPLB) Maulana Mohammad Refaii, among few others were present on the stage. Session concluded with a prayer.

George Fernandes, district president of All India Catholic Union also visited Jamia Islamia. He appreciated Jamia Islamia for conducting the wonderful programme and congratulated Inayatullah Shahbandari, convener of Payame Insaniyath programme. He presented a garland to Maulana Abdul Bari, principal of Jamia Islamia, for conducting the programme.
