Jalna, Jul 23: An unidentified thief allegedly stole Rs 9 lakh belonging to a women's self-help group (SHG) after breaking the window of a parked vehicle in Maharashtra's Jalna district on Thursday afternoon, police said.
According to the police, ten members of the Yogeshwar Mahila Bachat Gat from Kotha Jahangir village had travelled to the State Bank of India branch in Bhokardan to withdraw funds.
At around 3 pm, the women withdrew Rs 9 lakh from the bank and began their return journey to the village in a pickup vehicle.
During the journey, they stopped at a tea stall on Jafrabad Road and stepped out of the vehicle, leaving the cash inside.

Police said an unidentified person took advantage of the situation, broke the vehicle's window and fled with the bag containing the cash.
The women immediately searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate either the stolen money or the suspect.
They subsequently approached the Bhokardan police and lodged a complaint.
A police officer said CCTV footage from nearby locations was being collected and a search had been launched to trace and arrest the accused.
Further investigation is underway.
