Adani Group denies reports of plans to launch Airline

Daijiworld Media Network – Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Jul 24: The Adani Group on Friday dismissed reports claiming it was planning to enter the airline business, describing the speculation as "entirely baseless and factually incorrect."

In a statement, an Adani Enterprises spokesperson categorically denied media reports suggesting that the conglomerate was evaluating plans to launch an airline.

"We would like to categorically deny the recent media reports and market speculation suggesting that Adani Enterprises is planning to launch an airline. These reports are entirely baseless and factually incorrect," the spokesperson said.

The company further clarified that it is not evaluating any proposal to enter the aviation sector.

The clarification came a day after a Reuters report, citing sources familiar with the matter, claimed that the Adani Group was assessing the commercial feasibility of launching a new airline, though no final decision had been taken.

The report also alleged that the Centre had informally encouraged several business groups, including the Adani Group, to explore entering the aviation sector amid increased scrutiny of Air India and operational challenges faced by IndiGo.

It further claimed that the group had approached the government seeking relaxation of rules restricting certain airport operators from holding stakes in scheduled airlines.

However, Adani Enterprises has rejected the reports, stating that it has no plans to venture into the airline business.
