Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 25: CPI(M) leader P A Mohamed Riyas on Saturday accused Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan of spreading "political lies" and failing to take a clear stand in support of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protest and students demonstrating in New Delhi over alleged examination irregularities.

Speaking to reporters, Riyas claimed that although Satheesan had participated in a protest outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence in Delhi, he did not express support for the ongoing agitation by the CJP and students over alleged irregularities in examinations, including NEET.

He also alleged that the chief minister remained silent on the alleged police assault on students protesting in the national capital.

Accusing Satheesan of adopting "double standards", Riyas claimed that the Kerala Police had registered cases against people organising protests and programmes in support of the CJP-led agitation in Delhi.

"Such cases should be withdrawn," he demanded.

Riyas further alleged that Satheesan was using his regular press conferences to spread "political lies".

"He is telling nothing but lies. His mind has become a factory that produces political lies," the CPI(M) leader said.

He also accused the Centre of attempting to suppress the protests in Delhi by restricting internet access and blocking various social media platforms, but claimed that the efforts had failed due to widespread public support for the agitation.

Riyas further criticised the alleged police action against the protesting students and condemned the registration of cases against them.
