I have been a guide on many ocassions with these cruise pax's.One must remember that these foreigners are very finicky .These foreigners won't even drink a tender coconut or coke. They will only have a drink brought from their ship as they are warned earlier.Nor do they want to take the risk on a vacation !

Now, showing them the Kambala, its OK for us.These foreigners will react saying its cruelty to animals .So don't try that luck. They may take pictures and get it published in their press ( New York Times ).

Well, what they see in their half day tour of Mangalore is sufficient. They are highly impressed with the Gokarnath Temple (a modern Temple), St.Aloysius College Chapel paintings,Achal Cashew factory at Baikampady, the Original Collectors Bungalow at Balmatta (Collectors Gate)built by Michael Thomas Harris,Second son of Lord Harris, 5th Collector of Canara District called Belmont House built in 1820.He named it Belmont House after his house in Kent,England( Governor Margaret Alva's house at Balmatta )etc.

Since these pax's have to get back to the ship for their lunch, they are back on board by 1.30pm.

Mangalore has so many seasonal attractins to offer to the foreign tourists, specially for the cruise passengers, because they always have a few hours to stay at each port.

Whenever time and opportunity permits, the foreign cruise passengers should be taken to the areas where the Buffalo race takes place so that it will be a novelty event for the foreigners to learn. Also, if there is Tiger Dance festival taking place in town or any other special cultural festival, foreigners will enjoy the beauty of our culture. If time permitting, a nice trip on a lovely coach towards Charmady Ghats or Shirady Ghats and a short visit to our Coffee Plantation or Tea Plantation would be an ideal chance for the tourists to enjoy.

A short trip to Bharat Beedi works also will be a thrilling opportuity for our tourists to realize where and how we utilize the human resources in India in order to earn our daily bread.

The tourists take home so much of impressions of our social, cultural, educational and even religious values that no money can substitute.

Let the cruise passengers also be aware of our advancement in the alcohol industry by allowing them to buy some of our reasonably low priced Indian produced whisky, gin, rum and even wine. These are all benefits that our tourists must realize, learn and enjoy from what we can offer as Mahabharatha.

From Mangalore the cruise ship was sailing to Goa for a night,Mumbai for 2 nights and straight to Dubai.Mumbai - Dubai is a 2 night voyage. The SEVEN SEAS VOYAGER is a 7* ( not 5*) pax ship. When I enquired with their Indian Agent of VENTOURS ,MUMBAI , the person said it was USD 1500/- per night with bed/3 meals.Liquor/SPA was extra. This was a class of a cruise ship and meant only for the super rich.

The other ships which come here are more meant for the budget traveller in the range of USD 200-350.The crowd here is different.
