Udupi, Jul 31: Udupi District Congress Campaign Committee president Harish Kini has filed a police complaint against Yashpal Suvarna, alleging that the BJP MLA made defamatory, inflammatory and provocative remarks during a protest held in Udupi on July 28.

According to the complaint, the protest was organized near the Jatka Stand, close to the Service Bus Stand in Udupi city at around 11 am, against the Congress party and NEET students. During his address to the gathering, Yashpal Suvarna allegedly referred to Rahul Gandhi as a "drug addict," accusing him of spreading falsehoods and attempting to create distrust and disrespect among the public.

The complainant further alleged that Yashpal Suvarna made a controversial statement claiming that "just as the Babri Masjid was demolished, Rahul Gandhi's dynasty would also be destroyed in the same manner," describing it as a threat intended to incite hatred and violence.

The complaint also accuses the MLA of provoking BJP workers to create unrest and allegedly instigating them against Congress workers, thereby attempting to trigger communal tension and group clashes.

In addition, the complainant alleged that Yashpal Suvarna made speeches capable of disturbing communal harmony and inciting discord between religious communities. It was also claimed that he used abusive language against students who had participated in the NEET protest and threatened them during his speech.

The complaint states that BJP workers present at the venue applauded and supported the alleged remarks, and seeks legal action against Yashpal Suvarna and others.
