Mangaluru, Jul 31: The 25th Annual General Meeting of the South Canara Photographers Association (SKPA) (Regd.), Mangaluru Zone, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, was held at the St Sebastian Mini Hall, Bendore, Mangaluru, on Tuesday evening bringing together office-bearers and members to review the association’s progress and plan future initiatives.
Inaugurating the meeting, SKPA Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district president Naveen Rai Panjala highlighted the importance of the organisation and shared details about the Santhwana Yojana (insurance scheme) introduced for the welfare and support of members.
He said the strong foundation built by senior members over the years had earned the association trust and recognition, and called upon every member to contribute towards further strengthening the organisation.
As part of the annual gathering, children of SKPA members who secured more than 80% marks in the SSLC and PUC examinations for the 2025-26 academic year were felicitated for their academic achievements.
The association also expressed its gratitude to Mangaluru Zone members who extended financial assistance towards the Vidya Nidhi educational support initiative. Appreciation was conveyed to Karunakara Kanangi, Prabhakar Kulal, Prashanth Shetty, Nikhil D’Souza, Naveen Bangera, Shailesh Kumar, Naveen Tharetota and Padmanabha Photo Kinnigoli for their contributions.
The programme also saw the felicitation of newly married members, those who recently started new photography studios, and individuals who achieved excellence in various fields.
The poster for the upcoming district-level sports meet was unveiled during the meeting and handed over to sports secretaries Prakash Sherigar and Harish Kundar, along with zone secretaries Nithin Kuthar and Prasad Kulal.
The gathering was attended by several dignitaries, including SKPA Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district general secretary Ajay Kumar, district vice-president Devaraj Shetty, multipurpose co-operative society directors Damodar Acharya and Vittal Chouta, district building committee member Lokesh Kumar K., honorary president Madhu Mangaluru and vice-president Srikanth Tilak, among others.
The meeting was presided over by Mangaluru Zone president Prashanth Shetty Shabari, who said the zone, which is approaching its silver jubilee celebrations, would require the continued support and cooperation of all members to organise upcoming programmes in a more grand manner.
The report of the previous meeting was presented by joint secretary Shailesh Kumar, while general secretary Naveen Bangera presented the annual report. Treasurer Nikhil D’Souza placed before the gathering the annual income and expenditure statement.
The programme was compered by photography secretary Sweeton Pinto and executive committee member Babitha.
The 25th AGM concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from members.
