Mangalore: SIRC of ICAI to Hold Panel Discussion, Lecture on Mar 24

The city's branch of Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) in association with K Ganesh Shenoy Memorial Trust, here will organize a panel discussion on India’s balance sheet chaired by CA Jayant Gokhale, chairman committee on economic commercial laws and WTO, ICAI, New Delhi and K Ganesh Shenoy Memorial lecture on direct tax proposals in union budget-2012 by Firoze Andhyarujina, senior counsel, Mumbai High Court at Hotel Ocean Pearl, on Saturday March 24 at 3 pm informed CA Murali Mohan, chairman, Mangalore branch of SIRC of ICAI at a press meet held on Thursday March 22.
 
Murali Mohan added Mangalore branch of ICAI has launched a unique programme India’s Balance Sheet in an attempt to awaken minds of citizens to the financial statements of India jointly with the Mangalore chapter of the economic research centre. This programme involve professionals, students and general public for analyzing and interpreting the statement of assets and liabilities, receipts and expenditure of government of India.
 
The panel discussion on March 24 also consists of G Giridhar Prabhu, trustee, economic research centre and past president KCCI and G V Joshi, professor, justice K S Hegde Institute of Management, Nitte.
 
On the same occasion Murali Mohan also said that there are alleged forged use of signatures and seal of members of the institute / proprietary concerns / firms of chartered accountants on various documents. Also it is found some false representation as CAs by non-chartered accountants. He requested the general public to check whether the auditor who has signed the balance sheet is a member of the Institute or not by logging in www.icai.org on the membership number.
 
CAs Jagannath Kamath M, Shivakumar were present at the press meet.
