Bengaluru, Aug 4: The Original Abharan Jewellers, 5th Block, Jayanagar marked its first anniversary with a special Atidonji Day celebration. Atidonji Day was celebrated with great fanfare on Sunday, August 2, at Poornima Convention Hall Bengaluru, bringing a shower of old memories to its customers here.
The celebration began with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony followed by 'Aati Kalenja', an ancient ritualistic folk dance where members of the Nalike tribe, with painted faces and dressed in vibrant costumes made of coconut leaves dance to the accompaniment of drum beats. This was followed by the symbolic act of sowing paddy saplings and drawing of water from a well. All this is to invoke the blessings of the Kalenja spirit which is believed to protect one from monsoon-related illnesses, bad luck and crop diseases.

The culmination was the 'Aati Bhojan' comprising a lavish spread of traditional dishes of the region which was thoroughly relished by the invited customers along with the directors of Abharan Jewellers, Subhas Kamath, Mahesh Kamath and their family members.
Adding excitement to the occasion, the jeweller organised a special 'Guess the Price' contest, where customers were invited to estimate the value of a gold jewellery item on display. Participants who guessed the exact price or came closest were presented with attractive gifts. An exhibition showcasing vintage kitchen utensils, agricultural implements and other rare household items once commonly used in the region also drew the attention of visitors.
The celebration was attended by Sandhya S Kamath, Akarsh Kamath, Adithri Kamath of Abharan Jewellers, Geetha Sheela Nayak, and other dignitaries.
