Mumbai, Aug 6: Stand-up comedian Pranit More has announced his return to the comedy stage after staying away for several weeks following the controversy surrounding the viral "Rs 370 biryani" incident.

The comedian unveiled the poster of his new stand-up special 'Ghayal' on Thursday, marking his comeback to live performances.

Sharing the announcement on Instagram, Pranit wrote, "I can’t change what happened, but I can choose who I become because of it. Ghayal is the story of that journey. Beginning in Mumbai."

The announcement comes months after Pranit faced criticism over a viral video from one of his comedy shows in Gurugram. The clip showed an audience member making a remark that was widely criticised as misogynistic, with viewers questioning Pranit's response during the incident.

Following the backlash, Pranit stepped away from stand-up performances for a period of time. He and the audience member involved in the controversy, identified as Himanshu Jangra, were later summoned by the National Commission for Women (NCW). Pranit also issued a public apology, acknowledging the criticism he received.

Pranit's comeback announcement has drawn attention on social media, with several users comparing it to comedian Samay Raina's return with his special 'Still Alive' after the controversy surrounding his show India's Got Latent.

The "Rs 370 biryani" controversy began after a clip from Pranit's performance went viral, in which an audience member made comments suggesting that spending money on a woman created certain expectations in return. The remarks triggered widespread criticism online.

With 'Ghayal', Pranit More is now set to return to the stage and share his journey following the controversy.
