Udupi: Boat, sand seized during illegal sand mining operation

Udupi, Aug 8: Police have seized a boat and around one unit of sand following a raid on suspected illegal sand mining at Hude in Paduthonse village.

Based on information about illegal transportation of sand near the Bobbarya Daivasthana in Hude, Malpe station officer Anilkumar and his team conducted a raid on Aug 6.

When police reached the spot following information that sand was being illegally extracted from the river by Shohib Suvarna of Hude, the workers present in the boat fled the scene, abandoning the boat and sand.

Police seized the boat along with around one unit of sand. Further investigation is underway.
