Bantwal, Aug 10: Four men have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act after they allegedly admitted to bringing ganja in a car and smoking it at Kanattadka in Vitla Kasaba village on August 9.

Vitla police sub-inspector Ramakrishna received information in the evening that a car was parked under suspicious circumstances at Kanattadka. Acting on the information, he rushed to the spot along with police personnel.

The police found a car bearing registration number KA-17-N-7443 in the courtyard of a house belonging to Nagaraj K, 32. Four men were found sitting on the veranda of the house.

On being questioned, they identified themselves as house owner Nagaraj K; Kumar Krishna, 27, a resident of Kolnad in Bantwal; Abdul Jaleel, 40, a resident of Kepu in Bantwal; and Abdul Khader U, 31, a resident of Vitla Kasaba.

During questioning, all four reportedly admitted that they had brought ganja in the car and smoked it.

The four were subsequently subjected to medical examinations, which confirmed the consumption of narcotic substances.

A case has been registered at Vittal police station under Crime No. 173/2026 under Section 27(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

Further investigation is under way.
