Mangaluru, Aug 13: As part of the Independence Day celebrations, the 11th annual National Flag Campaign and ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ programme organised by the Guttakadu-Ulapady Sri Durgaparameshwari Mahammayi Temple was held at a government higher primary school and Anganwadi centre near Kinnigoli.

As part of the programme, more than 100 national flags were distributed among school students and local residents by Mohandas Surathkal, trustee of the Sri Durgaparameshwari Mahammayi Temple.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the national flag is a symbol of every Indian’s self-respect, unity and sacrifice. He urged citizens to understand the importance and dignity of the national flag and appealed to everyone to hoist the Tricolour respectfully at their homes on the morning of August 15 as a mark of patriotism.
