Kundapur: Konkani Poets Meet at 'Kavyamruta' Session

Kundapur, Mar 26: “We aim to provide a platform for the talented in Konkani development programmes. It’s essential to inspire budding Konkani poets by providing a platform to explore their talents in Konkani poetry. The poets’ session is being organized to achieve this objective. It would further give motivation to several budding poets,” said Kasargod Chinna, president, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy.
 
“The Konkani Sahitya Academy has been making earnest efforts to be creative, despite administrative difficulties. ‘Kavyamruta’ poets’ session is a step in this direction,” he added.

Chinna was speaking at ‘Kavyamruta’, the poets’ session held at Kshemadhama auditorium on Saturday March 24.
 
Canara Bank city chief manager K Umesh Pai, in his inaugural address, said that Konkans should not disregard their mother tongue Konkani that has withstood the challenges of times and hence the need to foster and take it to new heights.
 
Konkani litterateur and magician Om Ganesh, the taluk Working Journalists’ Association president Vinay Pais, and Mangalore-based veteran entrepreneur Ashok Shet were the chief guests on the occasion.
 
Renowned poet and Central Konkani Sahitya Academy Award recipient Melvyn Rodrigues was felicitated during the programme.
 
Vinay V Pai introduced the guests. Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy secretary Dr B Devdas Pai welcomed the gathering. U S Shenoy compered the programme.
 
The veteran poets Bernard D’Costa, K R Kamat, Jnanadev Mallya, Leena Tauro, Swati Shet, Dr Nagesh Kumar Rao, P Jayawant Pai, Sheryl D’Souza, Narmada Prabhu, Keshav Pai, and N Shreesha participated in the poets’ session.
