New Delhi, Aug 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to complete 25 years in public service on October 7, marking a major milestone in his political journey from Gujarat Chief Minister to Prime Minister.

To mark the occasion, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is preparing to organise a nationwide 'Seva Sankalp Mahotsav', featuring a series of public outreach, welfare and community service programmes.

Modi first took oath as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001. He served as the state's Chief Minister for nearly 13 years before becoming Prime Minister in May 2014. He subsequently returned to office for a second term in 2019 and a third term in 2024.

BJP plans 15-day nationwide campaign

The proposed 'Seva Sankalp Mahotsav' is expected to be held over around 15 days across the country, with programmes centred on public service, social welfare and grassroots outreach.

The BJP plans to organise cleanliness drives, blood donation camps, tree plantation programmes and health camps. Digital and photo exhibitions highlighting Modi's 25-year political journey are also expected to be held at various locations.

The campaign will also feature intellectual conferences on good governance, development and Antyodaya, along with interaction programmes involving young people and various sections of society. Special camps highlighting welfare schemes and government initiatives are also planned.

Vinod Tawde to oversee campaign

BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde has been entrusted with overseeing the proposed campaign. A seven-member team in each state is expected to coordinate the programmes.

The teams will comprise a state minister, an organisational general secretary and five other leaders, who will coordinate activities and ensure wider participation across regions.

Modi's political journey

October 7, 2001, marked the beginning of Modi's tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister. During his nearly 13-year tenure, he led the BJP to victories in the 2002, 2007 and 2012 Assembly elections.

On May 26, 2014, Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister after the BJP secured a majority in the Lok Sabha elections. He went on to retain the post after the 2019 and 2024 general elections.

The proposed celebrations are expected to focus on public service, governance and welfare while highlighting milestones associated with Modi's 25-year political journey.
