Margao, Aug 21: The Electricity Department, Government of Goa, convened a District Electricity Committee (DEC) meeting for South Goa to review the progress of power-sector infrastructure and implementation of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
The meeting was chaired by South Goa Lok Sabha MP Capt. Viriato Fernandes and attended by Velim MLA Cruz Silva, South Goa Collector and District Magistrate Egna Cleetus, along with senior officials of the Electricity Department.

The committee reviewed various aspects of the RDSS, including infrastructure development, prepaid smart metering and the financial and operational performance of the power distribution system.
Officials said power supply availability has improved, reaching 23.84 hours per day in rural areas and 23.88 hours in urban areas.
The officials reaffirmed their commitment to completing pending works within the extended RDSS timeline through FY 2027-28. They also stressed the need for stronger coordination between the Electricity Department and the local administration to ensure the objectives of the scheme are achieved.
