Imphal, Nov 7: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Saturday urged students and the general public to refrain from resorting to agitations and blockades whenever crises or differences arise, stressing that dialogue and peaceful engagement should be the preferred means of resolving disputes.

The Chief Minister was speaking while inaugurating the state's first AI-enabled Career Intelligence Hub at Tamphasana Girls' Higher Secondary School in Imphal. He called upon students and people from all sections of society to adopt constructive dialogue instead of agitation and confrontation to address grievances and ensure lasting peace in the state.

Khemchand Singh appreciated the students of Tamphasana Girls' Higher Secondary School for not resorting to agitation during the challenging situation the state has been facing over the past seven to eight months.

Commending their maturity and restraint, he said students should remain focused on their education and future rather than getting involved in agitations during difficult times.

Highlighting the growing importance of artificial intelligence (AI), the Chief Minister observed that the technology had advanced significantly and was increasingly transforming various professions and fields.

He expressed satisfaction over the establishment of the AI-enabled Career Intelligence Hub, saying it would provide students with technology-driven career guidance, personalised counselling and information about emerging professional opportunities. The initiative is expected to help students understand their abilities, explore different career pathways and prepare for future opportunities.

Established under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), the facility is the first of its kind in the Northeastern region and marks a significant step towards integrating AI into Manipur's education and career guidance system.

The Chief Minister thanked Rajya Sabha MP Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi, the Education Department and the faculty members of Tamphasana Girls' Higher Secondary School for their contributions towards making the initiative possible.

Emphasising the importance of the formative years in shaping one's future, Khemchand Singh said student life was one of the most crucial periods for building a career, with Classes XI and XII playing a particularly important role in determining future academic and professional directions.

He acknowledged that everyone might not achieve everything they aspired to in life but stressed that humanity and honesty should remain the two essential qualities guiding every individual. He added that these values were equally important in the collective efforts to restore peace and harmony in Manipur.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also formally inaugurated the State-Level 32nd National Children's Science Congress (NCSC) 2026-27, organised by the Manipur Upliftment Centre in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha, Manipur.

The event was held under the focal theme, 'Understanding Ecosystem for Health and Well-being'.

Khemchand Singh inspected the exhibits and interacted with students participating in the science congress. He took keen interest in their projects and encouraged the young participants to continue nurturing scientific curiosity, creativity and innovation.

A total of 39 student group leaders from schools across all 12 districts of Manipur have been shortlisted to participate in the state-level science congress.

Rajya Sabha MP Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi, senior government officials, other dignitaries, teachers and students attended the programme.
