Mumbai, Aug 26: Indian open-water swimmer Anshuman Jhingran has earned his second Guinness World Records title after being officially recognised as the youngest male to complete the Oceans Seven, one of the most demanding achievements in international open-water swimming.

Based in Navi Mumbai, Anshuman completed the Oceans Seven at the age of 21 years and 109 days. He achieved the feat on June 30, 2026, after completing the Tsugaru Strait in Japan, the seventh and final crossing of his journey.

The achievement places Anshuman among a select group of marathon open-water swimmers to have completed the Oceans Seven and makes him the youngest male finisher in Guinness World Records history. It also marks a significant milestone for Indian open-water swimming on the global stage.

The recognition comes three years after Anshuman secured his first Guinness World Records title. In July 2023, at the age of 18 years and 126 days, he became the youngest male to swim the North Channel, completing the crossing from Northern Ireland to Scotland in 11 hours, 28 minutes and 52 seconds.

What began with the North Channel record developed into a three-year pursuit of the Oceans Seven. Throughout the journey, Anshuman trained at the Fr Agnel Sports Centre in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, under coach Gokul Kamath.

The Oceans Seven is widely regarded as the open-water swimming equivalent of mountaineering's Seven Summits. It comprises seven iconic and challenging channel crossings where swimmers face strong currents and tides, changing weather conditions, cold water, marine life and prolonged physical and mental exertion.

For Anshuman, born on March 13, 2005, completing the Oceans Seven marked the culmination of years of rigorous training, discipline and perseverance across some of the world's most challenging waters.

Speaking on the recognition, Anshuman said the Oceans Seven had shaped the last three years of his life, with every channel presenting a different challenge and teaching him about resilience, patience and determination. He expressed gratitude to his coach, family, pilots, support teams and everyone who supported him throughout the journey.

Catalina Channel — August 30, 2023: 8 hours 38 minutes 19 seconds

Cook Strait — January 18, 2024: 6 hours 58 minutes 11 seconds

Molokai/Ka'iwi Channel — October 5, 2024: 14 hours 21 minutes

Strait of Gibraltar — May 9, 2025: 3 hours 51 minutes

English Channel — August 11, 2025: 15 hours 49 minutes

Tsugaru Strait — June 30, 2026: 11 hours 37 minutes 41 seconds
