Mumbai, Sep 2: Disha Salian’s father Satish Salian became emotional after the Bombay High Court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to register an FIR and take over the investigation into his daughter’s death.

Satish, who has been pursuing the matter for nearly six years and has alleged foul play in Disha’s death, said the court’s order had brought him a sense of relief.

“I have been waiting for this for six years. There is no reason to be happy because I have lost my daughter. I feel relieved today. That’s all,” he told reporters after the hearing.

Recalling his interaction with the judge, Satish said he folded his hands and expressed his gratitude. He said he had not shed a tear even when Disha died but became emotional after the court’s decision.

“The day has come; truth has triumphed, and truth will continue to triumph in the future,” he said, adding that he would follow the advice of his lawyer regarding further legal proceedings.

Advocate Nilesh Ojha, who represents Satish, said the court had directed the CBI to record Satish’s statement, register an FIR and appoint a senior officer to conduct the investigation. The Malvani Police Station has also been directed to hand over all relevant records to the CBI, he said.

Ojha clarified that action would be taken against anyone only if evidence emerged against them. He added that if the CBI submits a negative report, the family would have the right to raise objections and file a protest petition, as provided in the court’s order.

BJP MLA Ram Kadam also welcomed the Bombay High Court’s decision, saying it had brought relief to Disha’s family. He alleged that the case had not been pursued properly during the previous Maharashtra government led by Uddhav Thackeray and claimed there had been attempts to suppress the matter to protect influential individuals.

Kadam questioned why the case was allegedly not pursued earlier and said those against whom evidence emerges would have to face the judicial process.

Disha Salian, who had worked as a celebrity manager, was found dead on June 8, 2020. Her death occurred six days before actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his residence in Bandra on June 14, 2020. Satish Salian has for years alleged that his daughter was a victim of foul play, a claim that is now set to be examined as part of the CBI investigation.
