New Delhi, Sep 7: Indian space-tech startup Pixxel has raised $100 million in a Series C funding round led by Singapore state investor Temasek and British space-technology venture firm Seraphim Space Investment Trust, marking the largest single funding round by an Indian space-technology company.
The latest funding round also saw participation from existing investors Radical Ventures and growX Ventures, along with new investors 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment. The latest investment takes Pixxel’s total funding raised to $195 million, the company said on Monday.
Google-backed Pixxel is among the Indian space startups that emerged after the government opened the sector to private players. Founded by Awais Ahmed, the Bengaluru-based company initially focused on hyperspectral satellites capable of capturing information about the Earth’s surface beyond what conventional satellite imagery can provide.
Pixxel has since expanded its operations beyond satellite imaging and developed Aurora, its Earth intelligence software platform, along with satellite systems designed for commercial and sovereign space missions. The company said these capabilities form the foundation of its broader planetary infrastructure vision, linking sensors, software and space systems to help governments, industries and institutions convert Earth-observation data into actionable intelligence.
The fresh capital will be used to expand Pixxel’s sensing capabilities through its Honeybee satellite constellation and high-resolution optical imaging satellites. The company also plans to further develop Aurora into a platform capable of combining data from multiple sources and converting it into decision-ready insights.
The funding comes as India’s private space sector continues to attract significant investment following the opening of the sector to private participation. Pixxel’s latest round underlines the growing investor interest in Indian companies developing satellite technology, Earth-observation systems and space-based intelligence solutions.
With its expanded satellite constellation, optical imaging capabilities and Aurora software platform, Pixxel aims to build an integrated Earth-intelligence ecosystem serving government agencies, commercial enterprises and other institutions globally.
