Udupi, Sep 7: A newborn baby was found abandoned by the roadside at Hoode, within the limits of Malpe police station, on Monday September 7.
The baby boy, who appeared to have been born only a short while earlier, was found on a footpath leading to a house. Local residents noticed the baby and immediately rushed him to a hospital. Doctors examined the infant and detected a heartbeat. The baby was subsequently shifted to a hospital in Udupi for further treatment.
Malpe police arrived at the spot and conducted an inspection. Police are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to gather information about the person or persons who abandoned the baby.
