Media Release

Bengaluru, Sep 10: Konkani Kutam Whitefield celebrated Monthi Fest with a well-attended Konkani Holy Mass on Tuesday, September 8, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Whitefield.

Fr Victor Lobo, vice chancellor of St Joseph’s University, Bengaluru, was the main celebrant for the Monthi Fest Mass.

The celebration began with the blessing of Novem (new paddy), followed by a vibrant procession. Children carrying plates filled with colourful flowers added a beautiful and traditional touch to the procession, following which Fr Victor Lobo led the congregation into the church.

The solemn Monthi Fest Mass was beautifully enriched by the melodious Konkani choir, whose hymns added to the prayerful and spiritual atmosphere throughout the celebration.

Before the service concluded, Francis Tauro, joint secretary of KKWCA, expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed their time and effort towards the church decorations and the preparations for the event. Fr Martin Kumar, parish priest, commended KKWCA for organising such a grand and meaningful Monthi Fest celebration.

KKWCA president Ajit Sequeira also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Fr Victor Lobo and the other priests of Our Lady of Lourdes Church for their support and presence. As a token of appreciation, the priests were felicitated by KKWCA.

The celebration then continued at the Grotto, where children and adults gathered for a brief prayer. The rendition of the beloved Konkani hymn Moriyek Hogolshiyam created a deeply prayerful atmosphere as everyone came together to shower vibrant flowers in honour of our beloved Mother Mary.

The Mass concluded with the distribution of Novem (new paddy) and Kobu (sugar cane) to all those present.

The celebrations then continued with a delicious traditional breakfast, where members and guests enjoyed the opportunity to connect, share conversations and spend quality time together.

The celebration was also filled with plenty of smiles, conversations and memorable photographs, capturing the warmth and togetherness of the KKWCA family.

With over 250 members and guests coming together, the Monthi Fest celebration was a beautiful reflection of faith, tradition and the strong sense of togetherness that binds the Konkani Kutam Whitefield family.

A truly memorable celebration, filled with prayer, devotion, tradition and cherished memories of Mangalurean roots.
