Panaji, Sep 10: The Crime Branch has detained four individuals in connection with the shooting of Shrinivas Nayak, director of the Neo Majestic casino in Porvorim. Police said the main accused remains absconding, while further details are expected to be revealed soon.
Crime Branch teams had been conducting investigations in Mumbai and Karnataka over the past few days before detaining the four suspects. Formal arrest procedures are currently underway. Police have identified the alleged shooters but are yet to apprehend them.

The incident took place on August 28 at around 8.47 pm, when Nayak was fired upon inside the Neo Majestic casino premises. His security guards returned fire in self-defence. No one was injured in the exchange of fire, although the incident caused considerable concern.
Following the shooting, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant handed over the investigation to the Crime Branch. CCTV footage reportedly showed two individuals firing at Nayak before fleeing from the premises on a two-wheeler.
The detained suspects are being questioned to gather further information about the shooting and identify the roles of those involved. The Crime Branch has intensified efforts to trace and arrest the alleged shooters and expressed confidence that they would be apprehended soon.
