Bengaluru, Sep 11: Oracle employees in India are facing uncertainty amid reports that the technology giant could announce another round of job cuts around September 15, although the company has not officially confirmed any such layoffs.
Reports suggest the potential workforce reduction could affect thousands of employees globally, with around 3,000 positions in India reportedly at risk. However, these figures remain unconfirmed and should not be treated as announced job cuts.

September 15 has drawn attention after an earlier expected round of layoffs around September 1 failed to materialise. Reports had suggested that employees could face workforce reductions in early or mid-September, with managers and teams reportedly asked to reduce budgets.
Oracle has not publicly confirmed September 15 as a layoff date or announced a new global restructuring programme matching the reported numbers.
The speculation comes despite Oracle reporting strong financial growth. The company recorded $19.3 billion in revenue in its fiscal first quarter, up 30% year-on-year. Cloud revenue rose 62% to $11.6 billion, while cloud infrastructure revenue surged 121% to $7.4 billion.
Oracle has also been rapidly expanding its artificial intelligence infrastructure. The company said it signed more than $30 billion in additional AI cloud contracts during the quarter, while its remaining performance obligations reached a record $664 billion.
At the same time, Oracle is undertaking significant spending on data centres and AI infrastructure. The company spent $28.5 billion on capital expenditure during the quarter and expects full-year capital spending of between $90 billion and $95 billion.
The reported layoffs would come after a substantial reduction in Oracle’s workforce. Its global employee count reportedly declined from around 162,000 to approximately 141,000 during the financial year ended May 31, 2026, representing a reduction of about 21,000 employees.
India is a major base for Oracle’s engineering, cloud, technology and support operations, making any further restructuring significant for its workforce in the country.
Employees are now watching September 15 closely, though several outcomes remain possible. Oracle could announce workforce reductions, the reported date could pass without a major announcement, or the company could implement targeted staffing changes as part of broader cost-reduction measures.
