Panaji, Sep 23: Access to Atal Setu from the Merces side has been reopened for motorists heading towards Porvorim and Calangute, except two-wheelers, as authorities work to ease congestion around the Porvorim Elevated Corridor.

According to a travel advisory issued by SP Traffic, the revised arrangement came into effect on Wednesday. Motorists must exit the bridge near Hotel Neo Majestic in Porvorim, before the entry point of the elevated corridor.

The decision follows Monday’s review of traffic movement around the corridor. The entry and exit points had earlier been barricaded following a crash near Neo Majestic that claimed two lives.

The restrictions had also raised concerns over access for local commuters and increased pressure on service roads.

The reopened connection provides an additional route for motorists as authorities work on broader traffic management measures around the corridor. However, clear signage and lane markings at both exits are yet to be implemented.
