Bangalore, Mar 31: Karnataka Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Saturday called upon more and more women to join politics and said the entry of womenfolk into politics would help in cleansing the system.

Addressing the Stare-level women’s convention – Nari Shakti Sangama – organized by the ruling BJP in Bangalore, on a day former Chief Minister and his supporters had organized a massive felicitation programme in Shimoga to mark the 70th Birthday of the Lingayat stalwart, Gowda warmly appreciated the support and contribution of women for the growth of BJP in the State and in different parts of the country.

The BJP Government hae formulated the Bhagyalakshmi scheme for welfare girl child and so far 12.4 lakh girls benefited from the scheme, he said.

The scheme would help the poor to become economically self-sufficient by imparting education till SSLC level.

A sum of Rs. 38,943 core has been set aside in the State budget for 2012-13 for welfare schemes of women, which would help to become economically self-reliant and gain confidence in life, the Chief Minister said.

Former Union minister and BJP national general secretary H N Ananth Kumar, MP, said the BJP will support the Women’s Reservation Bill if it was tabled in the Lok Sabha by the Congress-led UPA regime at the Centre.

He said the UPA Government was not keen to table in the Bill in the House fearing backlash in the elections. The BJP would not hesitate to support the Bill if it was tabled, he claimed.

The Bill to set aside 33 per cent of the seats in Parliament and State legislatures for women was passed by the Rajya Sabha in March 2010, but has been held up in the Lok Sabha amid stiff opposition from a few parties.

Kumar demanded a Joint Parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into Army Chief V K Singh’s controversial statement about bribery charges.

BJP national spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman, who inaugurated the convention, called upon the women members of the party to be prepare to face next Legislative Assembly polls

Appreciating several welfare schemes announced in the State budget presented by Chief Minister D V Sadananda GOwda, she said schemes would help upliftment of women belonged to social and economic disadvantaged groups.

State BJP Chief K S Eshwarappa, who presided over the convention, called upon party workers to sort out differences to defeat the opposition parties in the next elections.

38,943 crores for woman from 100,000 crores bal 61,057 for man? Should have been 50/50. Good allocation. They should be happy even if they get Rs.38,9430. There is one Zero extra in our budget.

I do agree with the Chief Minister
that more women will have to enter into
    politics. They are far greatly
    advancing in medical profession-
teaching-social works etc, but someway standing far behind in
politics. This trend is seen everywhere in the world, but it is high time to take a totally different route. All the best wishes.

Small reminder to DVS,CM of Karnataka, you are accusing other party about women reservation but failed to accommodate more women in your Cabinet. The lonely women minister forced to tender her resignation in a mysterious circumstances!!!How many tickets are given to women in BJP?It is easy to propagate but hard to practice.Don't wait for Govt's reservation of 33% for women folks instead try to give priority @ least 25% to women folks in BJP first. All male politicians irrespective of Party finds fault with Women Reservation Bill and thereby it was hanging for quite some time.

Coming to issue, there are conventions and counter conventions taking places by both camp which is a new trend in Karnataka politics and thereby wasting energy, money and valuable time of Ruling Party.BJP still not learns lesson from By-Election result of U-C with huge margin.Another one year if BJP resorts such silly gimmicks then people of Karnataka ready to teach an unforgettable lesson.
