Bangalore, Apr 2 (DHNS): A visit to a family deity on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami turned tragic for the family of a head constable.  

The head constable, H Hanumaiah, CAR, HQ, in Bangalore, 57; his wife Gayatri, 50; and their cook Ramaiah, 50, were killed in an accident that involved their SUV and a car on Sunday evening near Dodderi at Nelamangala, Bangalore Rural district. They were all residents of Moodalapalya at Vijaynagar, Bangalore.

Six people were also injured in the accident. They are being treated at a private hospital. Hanumaiah and his family would visit the deity every Sri Rama Navami day.  Hanumaiah, Gayatri, four cooks and neighbour Dasanna left for temple on Sunday morning in an SUV.

They were returning home  around 5:30 pm when their vehicle hit a car and turned turtle.
Pradeep, a manager in a private company, his mother Shakunthalamma, relatives Sachidananda and Rukmini, all residents of Malleshwara, were returning from Kadaba in Tumkur district in the car.

Pradeep, who  was driving the car, told Deccan Herald: “On my rear view mirror, I saw an SUV coming in full speed. I slowed down. The speeding SUV suddenly hit my car from behind, moved further and turned upside down at least five times, after dragging my vehicle for nearly 100 metres. My car was stuck in the road after the collision. Fortunately, myself and my mother escaped without injuries.”

 Hanumaiah and Gayatri had two sons Girish and Yatish. Girish is employed in a private engineering college at Kanakapura, and Yatish is a technician with a private news channel. Girish and Yatish were inconsolable. Girish said the bodies would be cremated at his father’s village on Monday after the post-mortem.
