Kundapur, Oct 26: An RSS leader was killed on the spot after a speeding car hit his bicycle at Kota junction on National Highway 66 in the early hours of Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Belur Gurudas Shenoy, a resident of Manur in Kota and an RSS leader.
According to reports, Gurudas Shenoy was crossing the road on his bicycle at Kota junction when a car travelling from Udupi towards Kundapur allegedly hit him. The impact caused the car to lose control and overturn, while the cyclist was thrown onto the road and died on the spot.
The car driver, Pradeep Kanchan, a resident of Bijadi in Koteshwar, sustained serious injuries in the accident. Jeevan Mitra Nagaraj Putran of Kota helped transport the injured driver by ambulance to a private hospital in Brahmavar.
Kota police visited the accident site and conducted an inspection.
