CISF seizes 32 tonnes of coal in Jharkhand, recovers 800 tonnes in month-long drive

Daijiworld Media Network - Ranchi

Ranchi, Oct 29: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has seized a truck carrying around 32 tonnes of coal in the Magadh area under Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) in Jharkhand as part of its intensified drive against coal theft and pilferage.

The truck was intercepted near Chamatu More in the Magadh area on Wednesday night, the CISF said in a statement on Thursday.

Since the deployment of CISF personnel in the Magadh-Amrapali coalfields around a month ago, the force has seized multiple vehicles and recovered approximately 800 tonnes of coal through various operations.

The ongoing anti-coal theft drive involves intelligence-based raids, surveillance and ambush operations across the coalfields. The deployment aims to strengthen security, curb coal theft and pilferage, and support the Ministry of Home Affairs' Zero Coal Leakage Policy.

Earlier this month, the CISF foiled a coal theft attempt in Latehar by seizing five tipper trucks carrying around 250 tonnes of coal. Last month, the force also seized 207.17 tonnes of coal near a village close to a mine in Bokaro and around 250 tonnes from an isolated area near CCL's Phulbasia Siding in Latehar district.

Central Coalfields Limited is a subsidiary of Coal India Limited.
