Delivering the keynote address, chief guest Dr Debasis Pradhan, director, T M A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), Manipal, emphasized Dr Pradhan observed that the graduates were entering the professional world at a defining moment in history. He highlighted the complex global challenges of recent years, including the COVID-19 pandemic, economic turbulence, political unrest, climate change and rising trade barriers. While acknowledging the difficulties posed by these circumstances, he emphasised that challenging times also create unique opportunities and call for innovative leadership. Highlighting the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI), he noted that technology had fundamentally reshaped the fields of management and commerce. Although automation had rendered certain jobs obsolete, he stressed that the role of human managers remained significant and that graduates would have important responsibilities in the years ahead. Drawing attention to emerging workforce requirements, Dr. Pradhan identified four essential skills that would continue to be in demand in the age of AI: critical thinking, to analyse situations and make sound organisational decisions; resilience, to overcome challenges and adapt to changing circumstances; self-awareness, to recognise personal strengths and build effective interpersonal relationships; and emotional intelligence, to foster collaboration and demonstrate effective leadership. Concluding his address, Dr. Pradhan urged the graduates to look beyond individual achievement and take responsibility for creating a better future for their organisations, the nation and the planet. Emphasising their role in shaping a better world, he remarked, “It is in your hands to take the world to a better place.”

V Rajaraman, joint director, Bankers Institute of Rural Development (BIRD), Mangaluru, the guest of honour, began his address by congratulating the graduates on the successful completion of the programme. He emphasised that bringing about meaningful transformation requires collective effort and active participation. He observed that although the graduates might not have directly witnessed some of the earlier transformations, the changes that have taken place across the country have contributed to a revolution whose impact will continue to shape future generations. Referring to the graduates as the iPad generation, Shri Rajaraman highlighted the visionary leadership of Steve Jobs, who revolutionised technology through his innovations. Recalling that Jobs had dropped out of college but went on to deliver one of the most memorable speeches, he reflected on the significance of education and the value attached to academic qualifications. He observed that earning a degree holds a special place in the Indian psyche and congratulated the graduates on reaching an important milestone in their lives. Concluding his address, Shri Rajaraman urged the graduates to preserve their youthful energy, enthusiasm and curiosity throughout their lives, reminding them that their journeys would take them through diverse experiences and opportunities. He urged them to master AI, continuously upgrade their skills and embrace innovation to remain relevant in the changing professional landscape. He encouraged the graduates to choose one of three career pathways: securing employment, pursuing research or becoming entrepreneurs. He urged them to think differently, act differently and do things differently to identify opportunities, develop innovative solutions and succeed in their chosen fields. He also highlighted the immense scope for research and encouraged graduates to consider entrepreneurship as an alternative pathway for professional growth and meaningful contributions to society. Concluding his address, he called upon the graduates to remain devoted to the nation and never forget their alma mater, teachers and parents, whose guidance and support had contributed to their success.
