Mangaluru: 21st Annual Graduation Ceremony of Yenepoya Nursing College held

Media Release

Mangaluru, Oct 31: The 21st Annual Graduation Ceremony of Yenepoya Nursing College was held on October 31 at the 'Yendurance Zone' auditorium on the Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) campus.

Dr Asha P Shetty, professor and principal, AIIMS College of Nursing, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, attended as the chief guest and delivered an inspiring address to the graduates. In her speech, she emphasised that nursing is not merely a job, but a lifelong calling rooted in compassion, courage, and commitment to humanity.

She highlighted the critical need for skilled, ethical healthcare professionals, reminding students that a nurse's compassionate presence and active listening are often more healing than medicine or surgery alone.

Urging graduates to uphold safety and ethics by speaking up when something feels wrong and double-checking in times of doubt, she emphasized that true nation-building relies on the integrity, social responsibility, and evidence-based care delivered by healthcare professionals.

She reminded the new nurses that while they may not single-handedly transform the whole world, every individual life they touch with care and dignity makes the world a better place.

Dr Leena K C, dean and principal of the college, presided over the function and addressed the gathering. A total of 238 nursing students received their degrees during the ceremony, including 109 BSc, 62 PBBSc, 17 MSc, and 50 GNM students.

The programme commenced with a prayer recited by Munavira. Dr Priya Reshma Aranha, vice principal, delivered the welcome speech, and Dr Janet Miranda proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Dr Sherin D'Souza and Renita Pratima Tauro.
