Mumbai, Nov 2: Television actor Anuj Thakur, known for his roles in shows such as Dhoom Machao Dhoom, Bandhan Saath Janmon Ka, Beend Banoonga Ghodi Chadhunga and Mahisagar, died at the age of 33 after suffering a seizure during sleep on October 27.

The news of his demise was confirmed by his friend and collaborator Rupesh Sonar, who shared an emotional tribute on Instagram on October 30. Rupesh said he learnt about the circumstances surrounding Anuj’s death after visiting his family.

In his tribute, Rupesh described Anuj as more than a friend, calling him a younger brother. He recalled their long association, the struggles Anuj faced during his early days in the television industry and the projects they had planned to work on together.

Rupesh said he had known Anuj for 17 years. Their association began in 2008 with the television show Bandhan Saath Janmon Ka, and they later collaborated on several other projects, including Beend Banoonga Ghodi Chadhunga.

Speaking to The Times of India, Rupesh said he was shocked by the news as he had met Anuj just 10 days before his death. Initially unable to understand what had happened, he contacted Anuj’s brother but found him too distressed to speak at length.

Rupesh subsequently visited the actor’s mother and brother on Saturday, where the family informed him that Anuj had suffered a seizure while sleeping and died during the episode.

Recalling Anuj’s daily routine, Rupesh said the actor was an early riser who usually woke up at 4.30 am for fitness activities and jogging. On the morning of October 27, however, he did not wake up even after his alarm rang. When his mother went to his room to wake him, she found that he had passed away.

Rupesh also revealed that Anuj had been thinking about making a comeback to television and had spoken about his plans shortly before his death.

Anuj’s untimely demise has left his friends and colleagues in shock, with tributes remembering him for his dedication, friendship and journey in the television industry.
