Mangalore, Apr 4: In what appears to be a case of a brawl between roommates, a student of Laxmi Memorial College was allegedly stabbed by his own roommate on Wednesday April 4.

Varun Kumar Singh (24), hailing from Patna, was staying in a flat (Gurudev Apartment) near KPT, and was stabbed by Venkatesh Kalyan with two others whose identity is not yet known. The incident took place near Singh’s apartment and he has been admitted in Wenlock Hospital, said sources from Kadri police station.

Singh and Kalyan had become roommates after paying Rs 15,000 each towards the apartment deposit and rent amount from February 29, 2012 onwards. Kalyan is said to have brought a few of his friends to the room which was opposed by Singh. There was a heated debate that led Singh to take the decision to stay separately. Hence, he asked for a refund from Kalyan which led to today’s incident.

Kadri police registered the case and are looking out for the three persons behind the act.
