Kundapur, Apr 7: Two teenagers, said to be in love with each others, allegedly committed suicide despite having got the approval of their parents. The incident occured at around 2 am on Saturday April 7, but came to light only much later.

The deceased have been identified as Vinaya Poojary (19), son of the late Narayan Poojary, and Swati (15), daughter of Shekar, both residents of TT Road here, and neighbours. It is said that Vinaya's father too had committed suicide around eight months ago by jumping into a well.

The two belonged to different communities, with Vinaya being a Billawa and Swati belonging to scheduled tribe. However, their parents on coming to know of their affair had agreed to get them married, but told them to wait for some years as both were not of marriageable age.

However, the two of them felt that their parents may go back on their word and not allow them to marry later on. Hence, both of them took the extreme step of committing suicide by jumping into a well.

The families of the two and the neighbours searched for the couple for a long time, and on spotting two mobile phones on the parapet of the well, got suspicious. Their bodies were fished out of the well with the help of the locals and the fire personnel.

Kundapur police have registered a case.
