Mangalore: Inter-District 'Tulu Yakshotsava' from Apr 7

Mangalore, Apr 8:
An inter-district ‘Tulu Yakshotsava’ will be held by the inter-district Tulu Yakshotsava Samiti under the aegis of the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy on the premises of Shree Rajarajeshwari Siddi Vinayaka Temple, Kuttharu, from Monday April 9, informed K Jayaram Shetty, honorary president, inter-district Tulu Yakshotsava Samiti, at a press meet held on Saturday April 7.

The Yakshotsava is being organized to mark the celebration of ‘Bisu Parba’.

The programme will be held from Monday April 9 till Friday April 13. The Tulu Yakshagana competition will have a time limit from 7.30 pm to 2.30 am. On Saturday April 14, a Tulu Yakshagana Prasanga ‘Amara Shilpa Shambhu Kalkude’ will be staged.
 
Karnataka Yakshagana Bayalata Academy president M L Samaga will inaugurate the Yakshotsava on Monday at 7.30pm. Tulu Sahithya Academy president Umanath Kotian will preside.
 
On Saturday, at 7.30 pm, Kumble Sunder Rao will preside over the valedictory ceremony. Senior yakshagana artist Shivanna Achar Kurnadu will be honoured.
 
Various ‘prasangas’ of Yakshagana like ‘Dakshayajna’, ‘Bheere Abhimanyu’, ‘Kudiyana Kann’, ‘Nuppudo Runo’, and ‘Kordabbu Baraga’ by various Yakshagana troupes and learning academies will staged as part of the competition.
